2 The Initial Hospital of the Jewish Religiuos Community of Pest
One room, 4 beds on the „Haus Orzy”1915 Kreutzgasse Diófa street 267, Dohány Street 307 Permission for own Jewish Hospital has been given by Emperor 1st Jozef Franz, since after thee Denube fload (1838) the Dohány street building was demolished. 1840 – On the corner of Aradi Street and – Gyár street (today Jókai Street) a building site of 4338 m² has been bought by the Jewish Community of Pest, and the inauguration of the Hospital was given in 1st of September, 1841 in the presence of Palatine of Hungary, Jozeph, and József Hild the famous Hungarian architect, who was the „dreamer” andasnd as well as the constructor of the building

4 Opening of the New Hospital of the of the Jewish Religious Community of Pest (2)
Gyár utca (Gasser Strasse). Opening on 12th January, 74 beds for patients (Internal Medicine, Surgery, Ophtalmology) The different diseases were handled in the same wards. Consultants physicians: János Balassa (Surgery,) and Ignácz Semmelweis (Obstetrics) First President of the Hospital Board was József Rozsay, who has been chosen for the member of the Hungarial Academy of Sciences according to his title of his Academic Thesis on the decreased seing, was: „My personal observations with the use of ethyl drinks and smoking on the development of the impaired vision”.

Internal Medicine and Surgery separated into individual Departments (1874). Head of Department of the Internal Medicine: Bertalan Stiller ( ) Head of Department of the Surgery: Jónás Báron 1845 – 1911 Director of the Hospital: Gyula Böke – Modenization of the Hospital: Operating Theatre, new Department for Ophtalmology Gyula Böke elected to be Director of the University Department of Otholaringology ( ).
